Up on Miller Mountain

Falcons comeback falls short of Panthers 21-20.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas climbed to the top of the podium in SuperBike Race 2. National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Roger Hayden and Monster Energy Graves Yamaha Josh Herrin picked up the second and third place spots well ahead of the rest of the pack.

It was an early day for the other Monster Energy Graves Yamaha ridden by Josh Hayes. Hayes’, a third place finisher in Race 1, saw his early lead vanish when the #1 bike slid out from under him in Tooele Turn - turn #19. Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha dominated the Daytona SportBike competition. Cameron Beaubier and Garrett Gerloff finished 1-2 in Race 1 and Race 2.

Sixteen year old Joe Roberts aboard the Honda CBR600RR held off Tomas Puerta on the RoadRace Factory Red Bull Yamaha YZF-R6 by a whisker (.198s) in SuperSport. Roberts took the checkered flag in Race 1. Wyatt Farris finished in third in Race 2 after finishing second in Race 1. Steve Rapp stood atop the podium in the XR1200 race. Northern Cali Heat

NHRA Sonoma 2013

The Force was in Northern California for the 26th annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals. John and daughters Courtney and Brittany competed in multiple events but only the patriarch advanced to a finals race.

In the Funny Car final John Force and his Ford Mustang faced Ron Capps Dodge Charger. Capps got off the line a full 0.025 seconds ahead of Force to win by a holeshot.


GEN 6 Goes West

NHRA Sonoma 2013

The 2013 Daytona 500 marked the unveiling of NASCAR’s “Gen-6” car. After a busy off season of planning and testing, NASCAR’s obvious desire to improve the racing in general with the new car was initially supposed to focus on intermediate tracks.
