St. Aug and Lincoln Top NCAA D2 Track and Field

Lincoln University and St. Augustine College ran away with the DII Championship in Women's and Men's Outdoor Track and Field. In the track and field community, the St. Augustine College Falcons and the Lincoln University Lions (Missouri) are the juggernauts.

Head coach George Williams has led the Falcons men's program to 12 men's outdoor titles, 4 women's outdoor titles and 35 championships overall. St. Aug won the title with 112 points off of just four first place finishes and a bunch of 2nd through 8th place finishes.

Ty'reak Murray's win in the 110 meter hurdles in 13.89s and Roxroy Cato's win in the 400 meter hurdles were the only individual titles for the Falcons. The relay teams (4x100 m and 4x400 m) accounted for the other two first place finishes.

Adams State finished second followed by meet host Grand Valley State.

Lincoln head coach Victor Thomas coached the Blue Tigers women's program to it's seventh outdoor championship and eleventh overall. The Lady Blue Tigers accomplished their feat the hard way by without a single individual champion.

Lincoln's 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams claimed the only top podium spots.

Johnson C. Smith finished a close second thanks to an incredible individual performance from sprinters Danielle Williams and Samantha Elliott. Williams scored 28 points for the Golden Bulls with first place finishes in the 100 m and 200 m and a second place finish in the 100m hurdles. Teammate Elliott claimed 20 more points with two first place finishes winning the 100 m hurdles and 400 m hurdles. The junior from Kingston, Jamaica also ran the opening leg on the third place finishing 4x400m relay.
